"Here are some tips you can try for tear eye stains"

Tear Staining in puppies try bottled water or filtered water from your refrigerator instead of water from the faucet. Water from the faucet has iron
and hard harsh minerals. Bottled water or filtered water from your refrigerator is a much healthier choice for your pet. Always have clean water available for them every day!
I don't believe in any products promising wonders. What I found that really works is to cut the hairs from the corners of your little Maltese pup's eyes twice a week so that their hair doesn't irritate the eyes.
You can dab a little bit of Corn Starch with your finger to the face just like you would make-up to help keep the face nice and dry.
Another thing that helps is to sprinkling a little powdered buttermilk on your pup's food.
Try giving your pup a small bite of raw skinless carrot every day for cleaning their teeth which is also good for their eyes as well and blueberries.
I'm not a fan of giving dogs Antibiotics. Antibiotics lowers your dogs Immune system the same as it does for humans. Antibiotics also could make the eye stains come back even darker.
Use dry dog food that contains the following 100%, holistic dry dog food that would be recommend that you might want to switch to that has No red dye, No Grains, No Soy, No Corn, No chicken by products, No beet, and tomato products for staining.

You might want to try  " Children's Benadryl" it helps control itchy watery eyes a specially when the air gets to dry or whenever  the wind blows dust and pollen in

the air which can cause watery eyes.  For the right dosage for your pup weight go to ... http://benadrylfordogs.com info/benadryl-dosage-for-dogs/ . This website

will give you the correct dose for your pup's size. You can get the generic band from the Dollar Tree Store called Allergy Liquid that is alcohol free.
Another thing that is recommended for any Maltese owners is to gently pluck

the hair out of your pup's ears so that they stay nice and dry which prevents eye stains.

                                                      "Ear Cleaning"
Carefully wipe out the inside of your Maltese ears with rubbing alcohol or Hydrogen Peroxide with a cotton swab. The cotton swab should be nice a clean after cleaning. After cleaning out the ears wipe the ear with a dry cloth.

If the cotton swab is brown after cleaning out your Maltese pup's ears you might have ear mites which will spread quickly to your other dogs. "For eye mites" There is a medicine called Tresaderm 15ml you can get from your vet for ear mites, and apply four drops into both ears every 24 hours for 14 days You should see brown crusty dead ear mites coming out of your Maltese ears. Check ears often and repeat the process as needed. Ear mites will cause eye staining.
